If the Hudson River water quality exhibits a higher pH (meaning a more basic environment) there will an increased amount of bacterial colonies due to the more basic conditions needed for larger amounts to grow. If the Hudson River enables bacterial growth, there will be an increase of CFU within the area surrounding Combined Sewage Output and less around the Treatment Plant (N) because the CSO is untreated water while the water at the Treatment Plant (N) was treated then pushed into the river.
